STUDIES AND INVESTIGATIONS

 

FIELD INVESTIGATION AND IN SITU TESTING

            * manual and mechanical drilling;

            * galleries and test pits;

            * soil and water sampling;

            * static and dynamic penetration tests;

            * in situ testing on piles and cast in place concrete walls, compressibility, shearing, concrete - rock friction, shearing and compressibility tests on granular materials and prepared samples;

            * Hydrogeological tests by pumping and pit fillings measurements of flow direction and aquifer type;

            * field tests for determining the permeability of surface soil layers  (zone of aeration );      

* permeability tests and cement injections into fissured rocks;

            * clearing of sand clogging wells;

            * hydrometrical measurements for establishing of water flow velocity, flow direction, velocity distribution, quantities of suspension material and hydraulically characteristics of flow;

            * surveying of river bed mobility in natural regime and  execution of civil  works.

            * geological, geological engineering and Hydrogeological mappings;

            * topographic surveying;

            - geodesic and topographical point networks for planimetry, and bench  marks;

            - maps and plans of various scales (1:100,000, 1:50,000, 1:25,000, 1:10,000, 1:5000, 1:200, 1:1,000, 1:500, 1:100)  with the contour lines, resulted from photogrammetric and topographic methods;

            - transverse and longitudinal profiles, bathymetric measurements on rivers, valleys, canals, lakes;

            - ground surveys and details for the existent elements (bridges, hydraulic constructions, urban constructions above ground and underground, various types of constructions);

            - control of the works and their behaviour in time (deformation study): dams, pumping stations, aerials, relays.

 

LABORATORY TESTING by conventional modern apparatus, generally with automatic registering, for:

 

            * SOIL MECHANICS: grain size analyses, porosity, Atterberg limits, unit weight, compressibility, consolidation test, direct, reversible and rotational shear strength, triaxial compression, swelling-shrinkage, compacting, permeability and others;

 

ROCK MECHANICS: unit weight, porosity, compression strength, unconfined compression test, frost resistance and others;

            * HYDROCHEMISTRY: chemical water analyses for potability, irrigation, organic materials, aggressiveness against metal and concrete, suspensions, sedimentation velocity and " in situ " analyses (CO2, H2S, C, B, O, etc.);

            * PEDOLOGY: chemical water and soil analyses;

* TOPOGRAPHY:

              - photographic plans with the land real state at one time made on the basis of the aerial - survey photographs, photoplans with contour lines;

              - mapping on transparent plastic or tracing paper of plans, drafts, prospects or any other documentation;

              - interpretation of aerial photographs.

 

OTHER SERVICES:

            * detailed elements form the data bank (geotechnical, engineering geological, hydrogeological);

            * details relating to the geodesic and topographical basis, aerial photographs, maps, plans of various scales available in the area of interest;

            * control and calculation of the earthworks quantities by terrestrial photos, surveying and architectural details for monuments reconstruction, control of  the land slides;

            * calculation of mineral and drinking water reserves and proposals for hydrogeological and sanitary protection areas;

            * execution of drilling and grouting for watertight diaphragm, anchorage drilling, piezometres;

·         execution of hydrometrical measurements for control of water supply and discharge devices at the hydraulic constructions.

 

To perform the mentioned services we dispose of:

            For prospecting, "in situ" investigations and testing:

            - facilities and equipment for manual drilling  8 5/8" at 10 m depth and 2" at 3 m depth;

            - MINIFOR mechanical drilling unit, 8 5/8" to 10 3/4" at 10 m   depth;

            - mechanical drilling unit 38 - 100 mm diameter for depth of 150 m;

            - metal tubing and filters, PVC stand pipes for piezometers  observation wells and slope monitoring;

            - conventional pumps and other equipment to perform galleries and  testpits;

            - detailed sampling to define the subsurface conditions;

            - standard penetrometers (SPT), dynamic and static penetrometers;

            - equipment for plate loading (625 to 10,000 sq.cm), hydraulic jacks and pumps of 1,000 to     3,000 kN capacity;

            - shearing and compressibility devices with boxes of 80x80x80 cm for different type of soils, including gravel, boulders and crushed stone;

 

            For streamflow measurement:

            - current meter - OTT type;

            - sounding - weight and steel cable for each current - meter;

- water level recorder for 30 days;

            - rain gauge and recording rain gauge;

            - boats with possibilities of using specific motors;

 

For topographic surveying, maps and plans execution:

            - accuracy theodolites: Wild T3, T2, Theo-010, Carl Zeiss Jena);

            - tachymeters for topographic surveying (Wild T16, Theo 020, 020 A, 020 B, 030                      Carl Zeiss - Jena);

            - levelling indicator for geometrical levelling (Ni 002, Ni 004, Ni 007, Ni 025, Ni 030, the whole range respectively);

electronic tachymeters (EOT 2000, RECOTA);

            - other instruments (topographic drawing-board, compasses, declination compasses, measuring staff - invar type, etc.);

            - stereo reproduction for plans or mapping (TOPOCART D, Stereometograph, AVIOGRAF B 10, Stereoplot);

            - stereocomparator for aerotriangulation (STECOMETER-D type and  DICOMETER);

               - pictures scan rectifier (RECTIMAT);

            - reproducer for making plans actual (TOPOFLEX);

            - rectifier DURST type for all sizes;

            - apparatus for micro - card - indexing " PENTACTA " type;

            - device for duplicating, expanding or reduction of documents- DOCUMATOR type;

            - automatic developer;

            - other instruments specific to the photographic laboratory;

            - automated drawing boards (DZT 80x120, KOVO);

            - computers and software for digital processing in geodesy, topography, photogrammetry,             mapping.

 

 

 

            For geotechnical and rock mechanics laboratory testing:

            - complete facilities for all kinds of soils and rocks (Soiltest, Geonor, Wykham - Farrance, Clockhouse, Geosystem);

            - universal jacks.

            * For hydrochemical determinations:

            - current equipment and instruments;

            - spectrophotometer with atomic absorption.
